I am very grateful for the opportunity the YRA has provided me to train with a rider and coach as accomplished as Marco Kutscher. It’s been an inspiring experience to learn from someone with such deep knowledge and expertise in the sport.
His insights and guidance have not only refined my technical skills but also changed the way I approach my overall relationship with horses.
In just a few months of training, I can already feel a significant difference, especially in my flatwork. We've placed a strong emphasis on the fundamentals, with much of the training focused on improving the connection between horse and rider. This connection is key, not only for success in the ring but for developing a mutual trust and understanding that transcends daily practice.
We've worked on a wide range of exercises, from lateral movements and transitions to forward and backward steps, as well as cavaletti work. Each exercise has been carefully designed to ensure the horses remain engaged, attentive, and responsive to my aids. The variety of movements has pushed me to think more deeply about how I communicate with my horse. Every exercise asks something specific from the horse, requiring precise timing, clear signals, and a constant awareness of the horse’s response.
What has been most rewarding is seeing the progression over time. The improvements are not only technical but also in the quality of the connection I now feel with the horses. Whether it’s during flatwork, over jumps, or simply handling them outside the ring, I can sense a deeper level of communication and understanding. This relationship has made a noticeable difference in the horse’s responsiveness and willingness to work, making our time together more harmonious and effective.
Marco's training philosophy has shown me that true success is built on this communication. It’s about creating a partnership where the horse feels supported and confident, ready to respond to your signals in a positive way. This has been a transformative experience for me, and I’m excited to continue building on these foundations, knowing that each session brings us closer to achieving our goals.
I’m incredibly thankful to both the Young Riders Academy and Marco Kutscher for this unique experience, which has already had a lasting impact on my skills and mindset.
